Alvin Allison Redus
- Alvin Allison Redus of Pearland, a retired oil field worker and former
employee of Celanese Corp., died April 3, 2006, in Pearland. He was 94.
Redus was born Jan. 26, 1912, to James Ware Redus Jr., and Anna Radicke Redus
in Black Creek. Redus was also a retired carpenter and house painter. He
helped build Dick Kleberg Park and restore the old ice house in Kingsville.
Redus also ran Kaufer Park in Loyola Beach for several years until 1968. He
was a member of the Church of God church.
Survivors include his two daughters, Beverly (Andy) Edlin of Riviera and
Brenda (Mark) Hansen of Lake Jackson; five sons, Jim (Karen) Redus of Liberty,
Mo., Billy (Dianne) Redus of Cleveland, Stanley (Erna) Redus of Kingsville,
Clint (Janet) Redus of Clewiston, Fla., and Michael (Amy) Redus of Pearland;
two brothers, Clarence Redus of Honey Island and Alton (Lenora) Redus of Inez;
his former wife and the mother of his children, Lois Cooper of Kingsville; 19
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. April 7 at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon,
with a funeral service to be held at 1 p.m. the same day with the Rev. Rodney
Schuler officiating. Burial will be at Gillett Cemetery in Gillett. Memorial
contributions may be made to the charity of the donorâs choice.
