AnnieG. (Trudie) Griffis, 150 Funston Terrace, died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, 7
Feb 1987 in McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services were held Monday, 9
Feb, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Semple, the Rev.
Rickey Hayes, and the Rev. Harvey Blackshear officiating. Burial was in
Mrs. Griffis was born 12 May 1914, in Lamar County, a daughter of James and
Minnie Redus Golden. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and its
Hannah Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Berean Bible Club and of
the McCuistion Auxiliary. She attended Atlas schools and East Texas State
Teachers College. She first married Joe B. McCollum in 1932. He died in Oct,
1955. She married John N. Griffis in Dec, 1957, and he died 14 Feb 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Billy F. McCollum of Texarkana and Joe N. McCollum of
Paris; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Kyle of Paris; a brother, John
Golden of Brookston; three sisters, Ida Mae Bonham of Paris, Irene Cheatham of
Paris, and Mary Lee Jones of Irving; seven grandchildren, Dana L. Turner,
Kenya L. Haire, Bravin McCollum, Julie Blackshear, Wendy Hayes, Kelli
Thrasher, and Kirk Kyle; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by a sister, Mildred Bailey, in1985.
