The Mason Family
Edmond Mason is reported to have been born in Virginia about 1790. He moved to Tennessee where he married Rebecca Elizabeth Woods on December 25, 1819. He enlisted as a private in the War of 1812 at Knoxville, Tennessee, serving from October 6, 1814 to May 1, 1815 in Captain Daniel Price's Company of the Tennessee Militia.
Edmond and family are listed on the 1820 census of Rutherford County, Tennessee, where Elijah was born. Edmond then appears on the Lamar County, Alabama Censuses through 1870. The censuses list his occupation as blacksmith/wheel right. He was granted land patents in 1852 and 1857 in the Crews area near Sulligent, Alabama. An Edmond Mason is credited as being a founding member of Mulberry Church. This could be the same person, as the church is near where he patented land.
